I read in the news today that Prince William was officially married to Kate Middleton.  I guess the excitement is about the fact that they will be the future king and queen of England as well as all its commonwealth.  This commonwealth includes Nigeria, many African countries, as well as others parts of the world that were conquered by England.

These conquests made England very wealthy, made English the official language for trade or became the world's language, and also made the British pound one of the strongest currencies in the world.  I am very proud of their accomplishment and I wish them the very best, but we as Nigerians or Africans should have a good understanding of what commonwealth means.

Commonwealth actually means that you, your life, your culture, your land, your resources, and your children officially belongs to another - commonwealth of England.   This means that you are a living property to be used, displaced, and destroyed at will.  It also means that they own your government, how they rule you, and how they make laws on your resources for their benefit .

Remember during MEND"s attacks on the oil wells in Nigeria, President Yar'Adua had to go to England to see the Prime Minister to decided what action to take.  This means that a Nigerian president cannot actually make an official decision on Nigerian oil without English input.  Have you also read in the papers from Wikileaks that Dutch Shell, along with other Europeans companies, actually controls Nigerian government, logistics, and information?

Have you ever wondered why we have bad leaders, why we all want to leave Africa, and why our children do not want to associate with anything African?  It is because the British throne as well as other factors destroyed our original way of life, disrupted our natural politics and economics, as well as gave us their religion solely for their benefit.  Many would say that it is about time Africa gets it together, but I am asking if we should even be excited about the English Royal Wedding.
