| Isoken, Thanks for your response. Which of the Isoken is this? I ask because I have about 3 Isoken’s on my mailing list. Anyway, I am happy that you guys are finally responding. At first, I could not tell if you guys were receiving my fundraiser e-mails or not, despite the fact that it was other UDSS students that suggested the fundraising idea. UDSS have tried 3 unsuccessful reunions and various failed fundraisers. This time, I decided to do something unpleasantly different, and for the first time, people are actually responding. Despite what you think, this appears to be very productive. Before, I usually got neither a penny nor a response. Now, I have received lots of responses and have almost tripled the amount that was raised before I sent the nasty e-mail. In the USA, they say: “If you can’t baffle them with brilliance, dazzle them with bullshit”. You see, it took a nasty e-mail for us to come alive even to the extent of informing us about your good deeds that no one knew about. Please keep up the good work and God bless all of us. |

| Hello Ehi, On the subject of fundraising for UDSS, I just the note which you wrote, I suggest you re-issue a new note with a more appealing tone. Honestly, if a fundraising letter arrives through my mailbox written in the tone which you used in your (last) note, I personally will put it through the shredder. When the "white man" wishes to raise funds successfully the last thing he does is to speak to people like they owe him the money. When people give more for good causes it is from the goodness of their heart and not because they owe it to anyone. Before you wrote your note you should have considered the possibility that a few ex-UDSS students do already make charitable contributions to the school or other schools. I am one of those people that make contributions to schools in Benin City in general without broadcasting it and that is especially why I found your note offensive (for example, at the wedding I didn't ask for presents but asked for vouchers which I then used to purchase math sets, pencils, etc and distributed them to primary and nursery schools in benin - this is only one example). I won't be donating to this project. However I always support a good cause so, for the sake of success, I suggest you retract the note which you sent out lately and send out a more appealing one. Good luck and God bless. Isoken |

| Dear All, It is so nice to visit this website and to have established contact with some of my former students. I talk about you all very often to my now current students. What a glorious experience I had with you all back in those years (1983-1987) and with the “Joseph” students. I have never been able to find another group of students that could even compare to you all! Such hard working, dedicated and talented young people you were! I was so very proud of you all, and still am till today! Does anyone know what happened to Chukwudi, Osaze, Fred, Matilda and the rest of the crew? Would love to hear from you all. Tony Osagie wrote to me and informed me that you are all trying to have a reunion this December (or next?) and that you all have done rather well over the years and are trying to raise funds to re-furbish UDSS. I had the opportunity to visit Nigeria 2 summers ago with my eldest daughter, Toja, and paid a visit to UDSS. I saw Mr. Opene and the secretary, and Mrs. Ominiabohs and a few other colleagues of mine still teaching there. It was so nice to visit with them, even though it was a short visit. I was very saddened to see the condition that the school was in. The years and lack of funding to support the up-keep of the school has really taken it’s toll. The actual complete roof is missing in some parts of the school! I wish that I were a millionaire, because that would be one project that I would be so glad to take on! I hope that you all will be able to join forces and put the school back on track - what a worthy project that will be! Please keep me informed. I am sending you a recent pic of myself to include on your website if you so choose to do so. Please give my love to all who remember me! Please share my info with my former students. My e-mail address is: jacquelinemokoh@hotmail.com God Bless you all! Love, Mrs. Jacqueline Okoh |

| UDSS Benin Renovation Project
The UDSS Alumni on www.facebook.com have lunched the UDSS Benin Renovation Project in October 2008. The purpose is to provide blackboards, paint the school, provide books for the library, provide science equipments for the labs, and to get new computers for the school. We are all expected to make a minimum donation of $50 by November 30, 2008. UDSS Alumni and friends in Nigeria can get in touch with Ifeanyi Akpe (Set of 1992) in Benin. He is responsible for executing the project on our behalf and working with the school. Those outside Nigeria can make their donations online at www.aimiuwu.com/html/donation.htm . All donations will be sent to Akpe the first week of December 2008 and he will begin the renovation from there in collaboration with the school. Akpe is required to take the pictures of before and after project, keep receipts of all purchases and services, and to see to it that the money was spent in renovating the school. All donors, their donations, and pictures of renovation will be posted on www.aimiuwu.com for all to see. As expected, this is not the time to ask why Akpe is executing the project and not you, or why is one non-profit website collecting the money and not another. We should stop allow insignificant negatives become the reason why we do not accomplish great positives. This is for real. Please take this seriously and you may see UDSS pictures at www.edofolks.com/udss/html/newpic7.htm . Together, we can always achieve greater things. Please send this to all UDSS alumni and friends. One way ,I believe, you can get your site to most people's attention through a popular but easy reach channel like the radio or television stations. You can encourage EDO BROADCASTING TELEVISION AND INDEPENDENT TELEVISION,BENIN to create a website. Please help the EBSTV to reach out to the edos within and outside Nigeria. The site could bring the most needed attention to edofolks. ALSO,I AM BEGINING TO FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE PRESIDENT,LOOK AT HOW HE IS BEING PRUDENT WITH THE BUDGET.I READ NIGERIA NEWSPAPERS ONLINE DAILY AND I MUST SAY NIGERIA LEGISLATORS EITHER NEED TRAINING OR THEY ARE JUST CORRUPT. I SAY KUDOS TO YAR'ADUA,IF THIS TREND CONTINUE,I WILL CANVASS NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA TO PLOUGH BACK THEIR EXPERTISE SINCE WE KNOW OUR EFFORT SHALL NOT BE IN VAIN. |
