Regarding your aforementioned story... It is actually the reverse. Ivb'edo, Edo people, DID NOT migrate or come from the Yoruba's as you had inquired. It is just unfortunate for us Edo people, that we refused to go to school or enlighten ourselves in the ancient days. Therefore, for a very long time were illitrate, ignorant, and didn't think of our future, especially during colonization era. We refused adamantly to accept the white man's way of life and rules. For example, Ovbi'edo will rather send their helpers to school with the notion of: It's not my child the white man will punish, or beat, or something like that.
To conclude, our helpers and those cultures who readily accepted the colonization ways of life, became educated and enlightened. As a result of that, they had the advantage and opportunity to re-write history the way they saw fit.

P.S. check out our history books by Jacob Egharevba, especially the short stories.

Working for God
Joe had always been a helpful neighbor and so the lady next door asked him if he could drive her little son to the hospital. Actually, Joe had other plans but he did not know how to say no. So he sat the little boy onto the car seat, fastened his seat belt, and started off on the 50-mile trip to the hospital. As they were driving along, the little boy slowly turned to Joe and asked: "Are you God?" Startled, Joe said: "No." The boy continued: "I heard my mommy asking God for some way to get me to a doctor. If you are not God, do you work for God?" Joe replied: "I guess so - sometimes. And now that you ask, I will be doing it a lot more."
Are you on God's most current employee list...?

A Bamboo Tree
A farmer had a cluster of beautiful bamboo trees. One day he stood before the tallest one and said, "My friend, I need you." "Sir," said the bamboo, "Use me in any way you wish, I am ready." Then the gardener's voice became serious and he said, "In order to use you, I've got to split you in half." Then the bamboo reacted, "Split me" Oh, no... I'm the nicest bamboo in this garden. Use me in any way you wish, but please don't split me in half." "Well," said the gardener, "if I can't split you, I can't use you." The bamboo went silent. Then it bowed its head and said, "Okay. If the only way you can use me, is by splitting me, go ahead." "But that's not all," said the gardener. "I am going to have to cut off all your branches." "That will be the end of my beauty," the bamboo said. "But - if that's the only way I can be of use - cut me down altogether." So the farmer cut down the bamboo, removed its branches and split it down the middle. After hollowing out its insides, he brought it to a spring of water. It became a pipe to bring water to the gardens and make them fertile and fruitful.
It gave its life to help other lives. Everyday right around us people are giving their lives that we might live... Take our parents, our teachers, ... our pastors, etc

Hello everybody. This is beautiful and I am impressed with this web site. osifo, you did a very good job and the outcome is great. Everybody should get more involved. Alone we do so little, but together we can do so much. There is also a very strong UDSS presence here in Texas and we all share a common goal.We will continue to foster unity amongst all UDOSA,both home and abroad and to keep the spirit alive. GREAT UDSS!!! 1991 set pls get involved, becuase it cannot get better than this. This is an excellent medium of communication. TWO THUMBS UP!!!!! Osifo hope. 2007 set

I would like to thank Omozee, those who have supported in the past, and those who are still interested in supporting Edofolks or the UDSS site in the future. I have considered closing down Edofolks in the past years because the cost, time, and energy was becoming a drain. I decided to let it be because I saw it had a uniting effect on UDOSA, and was an information base for researchers on African issues. If you are interested in supporting, please visit the contact page and help keep our site alive. God bless.

This is my first visit to this site. The circumstances, though accidental but it (the site) is impressive.
While talking to my colleage today about visiting the site of our alma mata I boasted that a UDSS search yields only one result--Port Harcourt.
I guess I was wrong on that score. Here we have a Benin UDSS and Kudos (I must say) to those that put together this splendid forum.
I cann't help but make comparisons with what PH UDSS (which links well with the FGCs)have eg. signing the guest book of UDSS PH is with a lot of fuss which is definitely not the case with UDSS Benin.
In departing some lessons I take home with, such as visiting the site of my esteemed UDSS PH more frequently, attending local meets when the opportunity presents itself and corresponding more with old boys and girls of UDSS PH ;and of course UDSS Benin .
Once again good work and best wishes.
Cheers!
Furo K.
